July 14, 2010PROPOSED GUIDELINES FOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM OF CCCM ALUMNI AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION
INTRODUCTION
The Catholic Center Campus Ministry (CCCM) is founded by Fr.Michel de Gigord, FMM on June 1992 to cater the needs of students especially those who are away from their homes and families to promote camaraderie and formation of the students in their personal, spiritual,social and psychological development with its general theme: We Play, We Learn, We Pray for LOVE AND LIFE.
Undoubtedly, in its 18th year this year in propagating these values among students, it has helped many students across the country especially those who graduated from MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology and successfully inculcated in them the value of paying forward the nurturance and experience they received from the CCCM chaplain,staff and benefactors from various groups and people.
Among the many help they get from the CCCM is the assistance in their school financial needs that helped them finished their degrees in college. And it is in line with these that the CCCM Alumni and Friends want to be part of the young students’ lives who are actively devoting themselves in the CCCM activities and are in dire need of financial assistance. Hence, the creation of the CCCM ALUMNI AND FRIENDS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM which shall be referred here as the ORGANIZATION.
I. OBJECTIVES of the PROGRAM:
The objectives of the proposed program are :
a) to aid/support a student who is in dire need of financial assistance to earn a degree in college.
b) to augment/support in the maintenance of the facilities of the Catholic Center Campus Ministry.
II. TARGET GROUP AND ELIGIBILITY
Target group:
The target group are the actively involved students of the CCCM who by reason of financial capacity of parents/guardians cannot continue in finishing a college degree; the incoming freshmen who are able to qualify with the requirements herein setforth and the CCCM itself as the organization that needs maintenance in its facilities. The preference is given to applicants of MSU-IIT students depending on the budget availability as regards students enrolled in other school. The CCCM shall be entitled to 30% amount against the disbursed amount for given scholars.
III. ELIGIBILITY:
- An active student of the CCCM who in a given year in his studies by reason of a sudden incapacity of parents/guardians to provide for his basic needs cannot continue in pursuing his degree;
- An incoming freshman who shall possess the following criteria:
a. Recommended by the Parish Priest /Barangay Captain as to good moral conduct with the concurrent recommendation from any of the CCCM staff, active CCCM students, active CCCM alumni & friends and CCCM Benefactors;
b. With good grades, 85% in high school;
c. Certification of Tax Exemption of parents;
IV. NATURE OF ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE UNDER THE PROGRAM
1. The number of slots for scholarships available under the schemes depends on the budget availability and commitment of the members of the CCCM Alumni and Friends Association.
2. The amount that the scholar receives will vary in the following scheme:

3. For every amount disbursed for a scholar, the CCCM as an organization shall be entitled to 30% for its maintenance.
4. In case no student of MSU-IIT applies for the program, a student in other school maybe admitted to the program, but only in the form of assistance of P2,000 per month provided his average grade is not below 80%.
5. In case, the situation of the scholar under title III, par.1& par.2 improves such that his parents/guardians can now fully support his basic needs, the student must relinquish his slot for others. Or upon verified report that the scholar’s parents/guardians’ financial standing has improved that the selection committee may act on its own accord for the suspension of the scholarship grant.
V. PROCEDURE FOR MONITORING
- The Selection Committee. There shall be a selection committee composed of five (4) members and one(1) chairman which shall decide regarding admission/suspension to the program. It shall compose of the following:
a. Two (2) CCCM Staff and one is the Chairman;
b. One(1) Active CCCM Alumna/alumnus living in Iligan City;
c. One (1) Active CCCM Alumna/alumnus living within the country who can vote online;
d. One (1) Active CCCM Alumna/alumnus living outside the country who can vote online.
The members of the selection committee shall be voted in majority through online voting by active CCCM members willing to commit to the program.
- Monitoring. The same Committee mentioned above shall monitor and see to it that the perpetuity of good conduct and performance of good grades are shown by the scholar, by the following means:
a. For the MSU-IIT student, a password shall be given to all the selection committee members and chairman to have access to her grades online.
b. For students not enrolled in MSU-IIT, class cards and clearance of the scholar shall be given to the committee at the end of the semester.
- Activities for Compliance.
a. The scholar if he/she is from MSU-IIT must actively participate in the CCCM educational, social and spiritual activities for personal enrichment and improvement and must complete at least one course of learning in a given semester such as Bible Study, Talks on Catholic Faith, Reflections on Human Sexuality and the like and/or join in any of the Committees.
b. Must regularly report to the Committee Chairman at least twice every semester.
CANCELLATION OF SCHOLARSHIP
The selection committee may terminate scholarship of any student in case of :
a) Misconduct of the awardees, if any, on a verified report submitted to the selection committee;
b) Unsatisfactory progress report (i.e. if the scholar receives a GPA of less than 2.75 for MSU-IIT or 80% GPA general equivalent;
c) Non-compliance with the required activities mentioned in Part V, par.3.
DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED
- The candidate is required to submit an application (Annexure – I) indicating name, address, date of birth, name of parents, grades;
- Proof of admission to the previous semester in case of an old student and a clearance and for the incoming freshmen candidates, Grades in High School, Proof of Admission to the MSU-IIT or other school.
- A recommendation letter either from a parish priest, barangay chairman, principal, dean, or any of the CCCM Staff, Benefactors, Active CCCM Alumni and Friends where the applicant is personally known by them.
- Proof of Income must show inability of parents/guardians to support in full the studies of the candidate.
- A letter of intent from the candidate himself specifying his need to be supported in his studies.
